Unique sacrifices of the martyrs would not be allowed to go waste: Bhat
Srinagar, May 15: In Srinagar, on the second day of the Martyrdom Week, the leader of All Parties Hurriyet Conference and Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Chairman, Zaffar Akbar Bhat paid rich tributes to Kashmiri martyrs including one prominent liberation leader and social activist, Shaheed Haji Abdul Ghani Bhat.
APHC leader while addressing a Jumma Congregation at Shakar Abad jamia masjid in Srinagar said that the confidence that the unique sacrifices of the martyrs would not be allowed to go waste.
He also expressed satisfaction over the boycott of Indian parliamentary polls by the majority of Kashmiri people despite fear and harassment unleashed by the puppet authorities and Indian forces. Bhat said “the overwhelming majority of the people showed their indifference and disinterest to the parliamentary polls and stayed away these despite curbs on and arrest of Hurriyat leaders and activists to prevent them from carry out poll boycott campaign.”
JKSM Chairman also visited the residence of Bashir Ahmed Sofi of Khanyar in Srinagar who was deliberately killed by a speedy Indian Army vehicle few days ago- and paid rich tributes to the departed soul. “He died a martyr’s death and played a great role for the freedom movement. In his death, Kashmir has lost a great Hurriyet activist,” Bhat said.
Bhat while urging India to give up its traditional intransigence and adopt a realistic approach towards resolving the Kashmir dispute maintained that Kashmiris sacrifices have centre-staged the Kashmir dispute at International level.
The announcement of the observance of the week was made by Chairman of the Salvation Movement, Zaffar Akbar Bhat in Srinagar, yesterday. Special prayers and Quran Khawani was also held, on Thursday at Bageh Mahtab in Srinagar. Several other speakers while paying rich tributes to Haji Abdul Ghani Bhat on the occasion reiterated the pledge to continue the liberation struggle till it reaches its logical end.
The week would be marked with setting up of blood bank, seminars and public gatherings, he added. He appreciated Pakistan’s moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmir cause and hoping that the support will continue in the future.
