Shawl greets IHK people for boycotting parliamentary polls
London, May 13 (KMS): The Executive Director of Kashmir Centre London, Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl has congratulated the people of occupied Kashmir for their candid rejection of Indian parliamentary elections.
Nazir Ahmad Shawl in a statement said that by staying away from the farcical polls the people of Kashmir proved that they wanted only right to self-determination for which they had been struggling for last six decades.
He said that Kashmiris had been rejecting such futile exercises for last several decades and they waited for the day when a free and impartial referendum would be held under international auspices to determine the political future of the occupied territory.
Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl paid glowing tributes to Bashir Ahmed Sufi and a small girl, who were deliberately crushed to death by army vehicles on May 8 and May 11 respectively.
He urged the world community and international human rights organisations to take strong notice of the stepped up violence against innocent people, adding that the organised genocide of Kashmiris would not stop them from attaining their birthright, the right to self-determination.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Centre London will hold a global essay competition on Kashmir.
In this connection, a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Chaudhry Mohammad Khan, former Overseas MLA. The other members of the committee are Dr Zulfiqar Ali, President Advisory Council, Professor Zafar Khan, Irshad Malik, Zakir Kiani, Dr Saboor Javed and Raja Ilyas.
