Protest in Qazigund
Srinagar, August 12: Hundreds of people have staged demonstrations against the eve-teasing and attempt to molest a girl student by troopers at Vesu in Qazigund. They blocked traffic on Srinagar - Jammu l highway for nearly three hours, sources said.
The trouble started this afternoon when the CRPF personnel deployed at village Vassu made offensive comments against the girl and attempt to molest here. When her brother Arif Ahmad Bhat raised an objection, the CRPF personnel assaulted him and disgraced the girl.
Locals immediately took to streets and raised slogans against Indian state terrorism demanding the arrest of the accused. Indian Police and Special Operations Group (SOG) fired teargas shells and used batons to chase away the mob. Nearly six persons were injured in police action.
CRPF personnel Paramjeet Singh and Kanveera Ram, who misbehaved the girl were arrested by local police and a case was registered against them.
Sources told Press Bureau of India that Shoaqi Akhter daughter of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a secondary school student and her brother Arif Hussain were on their way to home when CRPF troops intercepted them near Vesu and passed some indecent comments on the female student. Hussain, sources said, raised strong objection over the remarks and asked them to apologize. The troops, sources said, went furious and thrashed the siblings before leaving them in unconscious state. They also misbehaved the girl.
Sources said that when the people saw the troopers beating and misbehaving the girl, they came on the roads and staged anti-India demonstrations

Meanwhile, police has registered a case against the CRPF men and started investigations in this regard. Assistant Superintendent of Police Kulgam, Mohammad Shafi told PBI that police hassterted to investigate the incident. He said that two CRPF personnel identified as Paramjit Singh and P ram have been arrested.
