OIC invites Mirwaiz, Fai, Shawl, Tramboo, Naseem to Foreign Ministers' meet
Srinagar, May 11: The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, and Syed Yousaf Naseem have been invited by the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to attend its meeting in Damascus, Syria, from May 23 to 25.
The APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that the OIC Secretary General, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has invited Mirwaiz to attend the 36th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers. “He has been invited to attend the special session of foreign ministers of Islamic countries,” the spokesman said.
On the other hand, the puppet authorities have placed the APHC Chairman under house arrest to prevent him from visiting Pattan, where he was to campaign against the farcical polls.
It is worth mentioning here that the authorities have denied issuing passport to Mirwaiz for past nearly a year. Mirwaiz talking to media men in Srinagar said he will apprise the OIC members about the Kashmir situation, aspirations of people and stand of Hurriyat on the dispute, if he was allowed to attend the meeting. Mirwaiz said authorities have denied him the passport for past nearly a year. He said the Passport authorities have not handed over the passport to him, which he had submitted for renewal last year.
“The special meeting will be discussing the resolution of the Kashmir issue and an all inclusive policy will be devised regarding the Kashmir issue. It will help smoothing the way for the resolution of Kashmir issue according to the aspiration of the people of Kashmir,” an APHC spokesman said.
