MP says he raised IHK HR violations in UK parliament
London, January 25 (KMS): The Kashmiris living in Britain are not oblivious of the treatment their brethren in occupied Kashmir being meted out at the hands of Indian army and they bring it off and on into the notice of the British members of parliament through letters and emails.
In reply to such a letter, the British MP from Slough House of Commons London, Fiona Mactaggart writes back to her Kashmiri-origin constituents: “Thank you for contacting me about human rights issues in Kashmir. As you may be aware, I have spoken about human rights a number of times in parliament,” said a press release issued of Kashmir Centre London.
The MP further states, “In a recent debate to mark International Democracy Day I stressed that human rights must be protected before democracy can be achieved in Kashmir and I also discussed this at Slough’s Pakistani Welfare Association meeting to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day.”
“I have written to Jeremy Browne MP, the minister responsible for Human Rights at Foreign And Commonwealth Office, to raise your concerns (about human rights violations by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir),” Fiona Mactaggart assured.
