Geelani remains under house arrest
Srinagar, May 16: In Srinagar, the Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Syed Ali Geelani remained under house arrest even as other Hurriyet leaders were released from their confinement yesterday While APHC leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan was again today places under house arrest.
APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, JKLF Chief Muhammad Yaseen Malik, , Zafar Akbar Bhat and others were released from house arrest on Thursday.
Zaffar Akbar BhaT said that despite using all tactics, "the government of India and its agencies didn't succeed in its designs as people rejected the drama of elections."
Zaffar Akbar Bhat also visited the family of Bashir Ahmad Sofi at Khaniyar in Srinagar who was crushed by a troops vehicle few days ago at Pampore.
He expressed his anguish over the incident and said that such is the level of domination of forces that common people now get crushed under troops vehicles. Khan termed Sofi as invaluable asset of the freedom movement and added that Sofi's killing deprived him of a personal friend. He also expressed his satisfaction over the response of people to the boycott call.
