European parliamentarian urges India to resolve Kashmir

Brussels, May 20: Member of the European Parliament (MEP), Liz Lynne has express the hope that the new Indian Government will settle the Kashmir dispute amicably according to the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Liz Lynne, who is a long-time campaigner for the rights of Kashmiri people, in a statement issued in Brussels, said that If the new Indian government truly believed in peace and development, it must engage positively with Kashmiri leadership and Pakistan to find a just solution of the longstanding dispute.
 
The European parliamentarian hoped that the new Indian government would act to improve its human rights record in Jammu and Kashmir, something that international human rights bodies and many other members of the European Parliament had long called for.  "I hope that the new Indian Government for its part will now act to improve its dire human rights record in Jammu and Kashmir, something that I along with international human rights bodies and many other members of the European Parliament have long called for," Liz Lynne said.
