Detainee completes LLB in jail
Court grants permission to appear in KAS exam
Srinagar, May 22: In Srinagar, the High Court has directed the Superintendent of Central Jail to allow and facilitate a detainee presently lodged in the jail to appear in Kashmir Administrative Service examination to be held on May 23 and May 24.
Shabir Ahmad Bukhari will be the first detainee to appear in the examination if is allowed to appear in the examination.
Shabir Ahmad Bukhari of Kreeri Baramulla was booked in killing of the then puppet minister of state for education Ghulam Nabi Lone. Bukhari, who was arrested in 2005, completed his LLB in jail.
Bukhari, filed an application in the court of the additional district sessions court through his lawyer Mir Urfi that he should be allowed and facilitated to appear in the KAS examination. The lawyer pleaded in the Court that the detainee has applied for the KAS preliminary examination, which would jeopardize his career.
Additional judge Muhammad Shafi Khan after hearing the arguments and perusal of records directed the Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar to allow Bukhari to appear in the examination.
