Anti-Ikhwan protests in Hajin
Hajin (Bandipora), Sept 3: Hundreds of people today staged protests in Hajin township of Bandipora district. While demanding the release of Moulana Assadullah Parray, a local leader, protestors raised slogans against the revival of Ikhwan.
Hundreds of people from various localities of Hajin including Shahgund, Madvan, Banyari, Bharabad, Saderkoot and Gulmayari staged protests in Hajin market where they raised slogans against the revival of Ikhwan. Protestors were demanding arrest of all surviving Ikhwan leaders who are involved in various atrocities.
“Government should arrest the surviving Ikhwan leaders who are involved in various heinous crimes,” said a protestor Javid Ahmed, adding “If government is sincere in claiming that Ikhwan is not being revived it should arrest all the surviving Ikhwan leaders.”
Raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans, protesters were demanding release of Asadullah Parray, a Hurryiat leader arrested a few days back while he was distributing free vegetables among the people.
Protesters also attacked police post Hajin and damaged its windowpanes; however no injury has been reported.
Confirming the attack on the police post, DySP Sumbal, Tahir Ahmed said, “Protesters attacked police post and damaged its window panes.” GK
